The Empire Diner is a refurbished railroad car circa 1943, with Art
Deco flair and good food, too. This area of the city was once the summer
home of Clement Clark Moore, author of ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas.’
Moore inherited the land from his grandfather, a retired soldier, who
named his vast estate Chelsea after the London hospital where he was
cared for.
